In the new British Isles address database, postcodes are used to divide addresses. In the UK, postcodes are very small areas of just a few houses, and one road could contain many postcodes.
Firstly this causes an enormous number of records in the editor, if you want to define a dispatch area that is realistically large enough. But many postcodes are missing, preventing POIs from being set up etc.
Instead of writing it all again, euroo’s post (link below) explains an identical problem with the Dutch address database - problems arise in exactly the same way:
Postcode Missing Issues and Excessive Records in British Isles Address Database [SIMD4-453] #453
